Mail client setup
iOS
- Goto Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select “Add Account”
- Select “Other”
- Select “Add Mail Account”
- Enter the fields
- Email: your full email address e.g johndoe@yourdomain.com
- Password: The email login password
- Select “Next”
- Select “IMAP”
- Under incoming email server, enter the following
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- User Name: your email address
- Under outgoing email server
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- User Name: your email address
- Password: The email login password
- Select “Next”
- You may get a “Cannot verify server identity” prompt twice (one for incoming mail server and another for outgoing mail server)
- Click on details
- Ensure that you see sgcloudapp.net in the screen
- Click on Trust
- It will start verifying the settings
- Once all settings are verified, you will be presented with the next screen
- Just follow the prompts to finish the setup
Note: By default, iOS will always choose the secured email options
Microsoft Outlook 2013
- Click on File
- Click on “Add Account”
- Click on “Manual setup or additional server types” and then “Next”
- Click on “POP or IMAP” and then “Next”
- Enter the following information
- Account Type: POP3 (downloads everything locally to the client) or IMAP (everything stays on the server, you get a copy on your client)
- Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomain.com
- User Name: your full email address e.g johndoe@yourdomain.com
- Password: The email login password
- Your screen should look similar to the one below
- Click on “More Settings”
- Goto “Outgoing Server” and check “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”
- Goto “Advanced” and select the appropriate options (refer to underlined)
- Click on “Ok” then click on “Next”
- A testing window will pop up, wait for it to complete
Note: Send test e-mail will take some time as the server is configured to check your IP and make sure it is not blacklisted before it will send out emails from your account
- Once you are able to successfully complete both tasks, click on Close
FAQ
- I get some certificate error
Answer: The mail server is configured with a SSL certificate specific to the host (srvX.sgcloudapp.net), using another domain name e.g mail.domain.com will typically give you this error. just view the certificate and ensure it is issued to sgcloudapp.net and you will be fine
